Pennsylvania joins sixteen other ECE workforce registries previously approved for PER including Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Miami-Dade County (Florida), Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. PER is a data collection process and once accepted, states’ data is included in the Alliance’s National Dataset, and also in partnership opportunities with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Association of Family Childcare (NAFCC), the National Accreditation Council (NAC) and the Council for Professional Recognition (the CDA Council). In September 2020, the National Workforce Registry Alliance (the Alliance) announced the acceptance of Pennsylvania’s Professional Development (PD) Registry into the Alliance’s Partnership Eligibility Review (PER). A registry tracks an individual’s professional achievements and provides important data about the early childhood workforce to help raise the status and compensation for early childhood education. A workforce registry increases the number of high quality early childhood education (ECE) programs by helping to develop and track a knowledgeable and skilled early childhood workforce. The PD Registry is a technology system that functions as a workforce registry.
